Prime the oil
Who the hell did the engineering on this? According to the literature I have to remove the cover and the chain and the bar just to prime the chain and bar oiler? I’ve had and utilized several gas powered saws and the oiler involved pumping a bulb and it was ready to go. And it is required if the saw is not used for a period of time….. what the hell is a period of time? This saw sucks
I bought the saw for light and occasional use. Electric seemed like a better option for how often I planned on using the saw. I used it several times over though course of a few months and the motor died. This was after only ~2 hours of total use. I contacted Oregon's customer service and they have not responded. Very disappointed in the product and the service.
First chainsaw and boy am I happy. I had no idea what a corded electric chainsaw would be like and this saw is a well thought out and engineered tool. Every DIYer should have this saw in their toolbox. Way more powerful than I expected. 12" dia. limbs no problem.
I love this saw, cuts faster than my 50 cc gas saw. A little aggressive and because of the type of chain it pinches easily but once you get used to it that is not a big problem. I really like that the chain stops as soon as you let go of the trigger
light use only
Replacement chain is expensive, oil o ring and bar pad are broken and need replacing after first chain switch over. Can't find replacements anywhere. Body is a bit plastically and didn't feel like it will take much to break. Is a brute and does cut well.
Good product, well made, cuts well.
Good product, well made, cuts well. I speak as a homeowner who bought this to work around our yard and other properties as the occasion arises. It's light, cuts well, stops on a dime when you take your finger off the trigger. This is what I was looking for. I have a gas-powered name-brand and I'm tired of going though the exhausting machinations of trying to start the thing cold. One time I got so tired trying to start the thing for a minor project I never did do the project - until I bought this. No oil, no gas, no exhausting and awkward pull cords. If you're a lumberman or trying to go on that log-cutting chainsaw show, maybe you'll have a different view, but for the average homeowner who has the occasional job and just want to plug it in, saw and be done, this is great. And the auto-blade sharpening is GREAT! Works easily, quickly and well! I would recommend this model.
Motor Died Less Than A Day of Use
Didn't Last a day of use, before the motor died
LOVE this chainsaw!!!
I bought this after reading the positive reviews. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the unit. It was well put together and solid feeling. It had a very well thought out design and felt comfortable to hold. When I used it for the first time I was even more pleased with the power. I cut up a fallen pine tree that was 12" thick and it went through it without slowing down. Just like all of their products, OREGON did not disappoint!!!
Nice saw, but change the chain
Aside from the cord getting in the way occasionally, the electric motor is very convenient when electric power is close by. The saw has a decent amount of power but struggled a bit in larger hardwood. I tried a different chain (91VXL062G equivalent), which is allowed by Oregon, and the performance was dramatically better. I would gladly trade the better cutting and lower price for the self sharpening of the original chain. My only real complaints about the saw are that it has more plastic than I would like and a 3-prong grounded plug or twist-lock plug would be better than the polarized one on the saw because they are faster to connect without looking carefully and harder to unplug accidentally. Overall, I would recommend this chainsaw.
I love this saw. I've been using it for a year and a half now. I'm on my 3rd chain. Chains are more expensive for it, but worth it to me; when I have a quick job to do and it's dull I just hit the button and it's still a quick job instead of turning into a sharpening session. That said, I've used it with conventional chain too. Great balance and power...quiet power. I'm very happy with this saw. I'd be a little happier if they offered a replacement o-ring for the oiler, and if the bar locating plate mount was beefier, but I still think it's excellent. If it ever wears out I'll buy another.
Loved it at first but now the chain jumps off every 10 cuts or so. Kind of a pain in the butt and not worth it.
Quite the beast.
I have had this little saw for about a year now and it is quite the beast. The thing tears right through hardwood as well as softer woods. The chain holds out pretty well, but it sharpens just great and almost to factory sharpness. Just a great little saw and I use it quite a bit to cut up my winter firewood supply.
I've used this for 2 years now with zero problems. It is very easy to keep clean and maintain, which makes it more likely you'll do it ;) I've done the professional chainsaw operators course and found the sharpening feature on this saw to be much less hassle than a regular chain, especially over a whole day's work. I use it mainly for blocking up to 14" hardwood logs, but have used it in the woods with a small generator and 12 AWG extension cord to take down the odd tree for friends, up to 20" diameter. Highly recommended.
Have used this saw for 2 years now, cutting many madrone & oak trees up to about 20" diameter. Plenty of power, easy to use and the chain stays sharp with built in sharpener. Bought a 12 gauge 100' extension cord and have had no problems. I would recommend this saw.
CS 1500 Chainsaw
Had lots of tree issues this spring with ice storm in Michigan. I used my CS1500 to take of the entire problem Cut for over 24 hours in total. All I can say is this is a great saw. Also cut up cherry tree taken down last year. Main trunk is 14". Worked 6 1/2 hours today. Saw worked like a champ. This is very hard wood. Sharpener and tensioner are outstanding. What a time saver. Love it!!!
